31st of July was the day of my convocation. After 4 years of study in NTU, I finally get to graduate. And graduate with a second class upper division. I am truly happy right now. I not only achieved my goals I set out at the beginning of school when I first started out in NTU, but also managed to have a meaningful and fulfilling experience as well. Truly, tertiary experience is one of the most exciting and memorable life experiences I could ever have in my life. I am truly grateful for all the good things that have  happened to me. I am so blessed to be given the opportunity to live out the life full of wonder, satisfaction and amazement. The friends I have made are some of the most interesting and truly inspiring groups of people I have ever met. I am truly honoured and humbled to be friends with them. I will never forget them. Ever.

I posted this on Facebook on the day of my convocation and have since gotten a resounding round of approval from my peers;

This is it. Today is the day. Today is the day I officially graduate with a degree. The closing of another chapter. Tomorrow, a new chapter begins. A blank slate. How I write this chapter is completely up to me.

It has been a long road to reach where I am right now. It began with a single step. But the journey doesn’t end here. I will have to take that first step again to reach my goals. A new road. The road to happiness and success is a long one. I will be lost. I will encounter roadblocks. I will need to make u-turns along the way. If there is one thing I have learnt about making such journeys, is that it is never a straight path. One thing is for certain; never stop walking. No matter how long I take, so long as I don’t stop, I will reach my destination, eventually.

The people that I have known, my family, my friends, and the people that I will meet in the future, they are there to show me the way. But it is I who will have to make the effort to walk the road to happiness and success. And I will never stop walking till I find my own.

As for this journey today? I have reached my destination. I have found my own happiness and success.

Year end reflection and New Year’s Resolution

I cant believe that another year has passed by in a flash. I have been so busy in the second half the year that everything seems a blur. I feel like its only yesterday that I just ended my last semester, going on a vacation to Turkey, going through FOC and then starting a new semester all over again.

The end of another great season of American Idol, the start of a great new series, “Glee”

What a great ending to the latest season of American Idol, with 2 male contestants with vastly different personalities and styles vying for the top stop in the competition. But in the end, it was Kris Allen that emerges top. I have genuine support and respect for both of them. Their differing personalities and singing styles offers great variety to the show, even till the finale. I love Adam Lambert’s rendition of ‘Mad World‘, but it was Kris Allen’s smooth and relaxing voice that won the hearts of the majority of voters on the night of the performance. While Adam Lambert choose the wild, risky side, Kris Allen, goes smooth and calm to charm the audiences.  Kris’s rendition of Kanye West’s song, ‘Heartless‘ was flawless and jaw dropping and i must say (unfortunately) better than Kanye West’s.

But that aside, i was browsing Itunes, apparently curious whether their songs would shoot to the top 10 of most downloaded songs. I wanted to know the full song list that both of them sang during the entire season, and maybe download a couple of American Idol studio version tracks. I expected Adam Lambert’s ‘Mad World’ to top the charts, but no, it was a song from Fox’s latest TV series, “Glee

What is Glee?

Well apparently like I said, its a new TV series which aired just after the finale of American Idol. Its a musical comedy, about a group of misfits who are good at singing, and trying to make big by winning the nationals in a choir competition. The teacher who took over the club named Glee, after the previous one was fired. He tries his best to recruit students who can sing. The teacher himself was part of the group when he was in high school. Late in the episode, you can see him struggling to decide doing whats right by finding greener pastures to provide for his family, or pursuing his passion for singing. The pilot episode was broadcasted on US TV networks, and since this is a musical comedy, there must be great music in all musical right?

Youre damn right!

I was shocked when a track from the series briefly came out tops in the itunes most downloaded tracks chart. It was a rendition of the hit title, “Don’t Stop Believing” originally performed by Journey. I listened to it and it was amazing! I watched the pilot episode and i must that this is a very promising tv series to watch. Though it only broadcasted the first episode. The entire series wont start till Fall of 2009, or around September. That was not only the song that was showcased. There were cover songs for Amy Winehouse’s ‘Rehab’, ‘Respect’ and songs from ‘Grease’. Overall its a very entertaining first pilot episode a series worth keeping track.
