I was looking at my bookshelf, packed with trinkets, figurines, souvenirs from friends around the world, and a couple of figurines. It is currently jam packed with stuff. So I decided to sell some of my books, especially the old ones, those that I would never read it again. It was hard to choose the books that I am willing to part ways with. But in the end, mostly they were fantasy books that I bought more than 10 years ago. All of them have aged to the point of being brown with spots. But they are still readable and the pages barely have any major creases in them.
The first batch of books are for sale. As you can see, a number of Forgotten Realms and Terry Brooks novels are up for sale. I have one by Jim Butcher. His very first novel on Harry Dresden. The series that I have come to love. I bought the first one and borrowed the other 13 or so books from the library. I devoured every Harry Dresden book he has ever released over the years. It is simply an amazing series. There is another set of books that I am planning to sell over time. Hopefully I can clear up some space in the bookshelf for more books in the future. This time however, it will surely take more time to fill it up, largely due to the fact that I read my books predominantly on E-books. I only buy physical books if they are good as reference material
On the games front, it is mainly PS3 games. PS4 is coming out in november, so there is really no reason for me to keep any of the PS3 games anymore. In fact, this afternoon, I successfully managed to sell off my copy of Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops and God of War III. I sell them cheap, cause I actually wanna clear them fast. They are also stored in my bookshelf. So thinning them up will be helpful in making space for future games. I plan to sell other games like the Uncharted Series, as well as the Dragon Age and Mass Effect series. These three franchises are the hardest for me to sell, because I love them so much and it kinda pains me to sell them off. Like recently, I managed to replay Uncharted 3 and enjoyed every moment of it. That was my third playthrough and it still gives me that sense of adventure and thrills that the game provides. And the graphics is just gorgeous. I can definitely say that no console game has ever come close in matching the graphical fidelity and colour palette that this game set out to achieve in a console. I am very excited to see what Naughty Dog has to offer in the next generation of console.
At the beginning of this year, I decided to read the entire Harry Dresden Novels once again. Written by Jim Butcher, he has written a total of 15 books on Harry Dresden. I stopped reading at book 12 a while back and i took a long hiatus since then. Now, I wanna get back into reading the entire series again, until his latest book. I am now at Book 6, Blood Rites, so I am roughly halfway there. Books written by Jim Butcher are one of the few books that I would very much like to spend time re-reading again. I just love Harry Dresden, a Wizard living in Chicago, who is a private investigator, wizard and supernatural fighter all in one. It’s one of the few books where I can practically read the whole day.
I have also added new e-books to my Kindle so that would keep me busy in the coming weeks. Reading is one of my activities that help me keep my mind off certain things, and it is something that I would like to catch up on, especially when I hadn’t the time to read much in the beginning of the year. Now that school is over and I am practically in limbo state, I am using my whatever spare time I’m reading. The Ender’s Game series is one of them that I plan to start. I remembered reading the first book many years back. I remember liking it, but maybe not truly appreciating it. I was probably a kid back then. Now I would very much like to read the entire series if time permits. A movie of the same title from the first book is coming out soon, and judging from the trailer, it’s looking really good.
I plan to buy Khaled Hosseini’s new book (e-book) on Amazon, as well as Hugh Howey’s I, Zombie. It’s been a while since i visited Howey’s works, notably his ever popular Wool Series. I enjoyed that series immensely. So I am pretty excited to see how this novel would turn out to be. Peter Hessler also wrote a new book, called Strange Stones: Despatches from the East and West. It’s actually not a new book that he had written. Rather it’s more of a collection of articles he had written for The New Yorker over a period of time. But still, I love his books. As a journalist and an author, his description on his travels and experiences in China is absolutely breathtaking and provocative. The way he writes what he observes in his life while living in China is truly captivating. I simply love and admire the way he writes.
I’m a huge fan of Harry Dresden, a character envisioned by author Jim Butcher. I was browsing through what the community has done for that character in terms of fanarts and I came up with a couple of, what I think is the most accurate depiction of Harry and Thomas in those novels as I visualised them to be. Fantastic work. Credits go to~mika-merrylark Mika. More of those can be found from her gallery in DeviantART. By the way, Harry is one on the right, while Thomas, his half-brother, is on the left. Thomas is a vampire of the White Court. They are more human than their vampire cousins of the Red Courts. They feed on the emotions and life force of humans rather than blood. Thomas is the good guy in this case.
As of this writing, there are about 14 books written by Jim Butcher on Harry Dresden, the Wizard cum private investigator of Chicago. I read the first 7 during the last summer holidays, and I am attempting to finish the remaining 7 books. Im currently somewhere on either book 9 or 10, and I must say, this is one of the most impressive series of books that I have ever read.

I know I shouldn’t be writing this list down yet, especially when the exams havent even started yet. But this semester is really a bummer and I just couldnt wait for the holidays to begin. With that being said, I have started to come up with a list of things that I would like to do during the holiday.
