Star Trek Into Darkness

I got an early sneak preview of the movie today. One of the most anticipated summer blockbuster movie of 2013. It is none other than J.J. Abrams’s reboot of the Star Trek Universe. Star Trek Into Darkness, featuring Khan, a new villain played by renown british actor, Benedict Cumberbatch.

Part two of Star Trek, famously rebooted by J.J. Abrams is a much tighter movie, with lots of action drama and humour at every turn of the movie. You will be on the edge of your seat literally at every minute of the film. If you have the opportunity to watch this movie on a big screen, digital, or in an atmos theatre, or even better, IMAX 3D, go catch it at all cost. So far, early on in this busy summer blockbuster movie schedule of 2013, Star Trek Into Darkness is beginning to be a clear winner to be the best summer flick this year, hands down. I have waited more than 4 years since the last movie came out, and it did not disappoint me one bit. The usual bantering between Captain Kirk and Commander Spock has been notched up by several levels. The Villain, Khan, is a super convincing and realistic bad guy with a superb acting that made me almost convinced that he was actually the good guy to begin with. His superior performance, kept me second guessing myself to his ulterior motive, right till the very end.

All said and done, this is a must watch film. Smart plot, great pacing, a healthy dose of action without bogging down the movie too much, with a good sense of drama and character dynamics that have made me love the rebooted Star Trek right from the very beginning. Even if you are not a fan of Star Trek, or don’t even know what Star Trek is, just go watch it for the sheer rollercoaster thrilling ride that you will come to experience for the next 2 hours or so in the theatres.
